George Morissette
Naples, Florida
For as long as he can remember, George Morissette has been drawn to art. As a kid growing up in New England, George was a natural, teaching himself to draw, sketch and paint. Later, while working as a ski instructor, he was attracted to the winter scenes he saw everyday, wanting to capture the natural beauty on paper using pencil, ink and watercolors.
Moving to Naples in 1987, George's artistic attention was pulled in the direction of more tropical landscapes, where he also found a new desire -- to preserve the history and charm of the Victorian-style cottages and homes throughout Southwest Florida before, as George says, "it all disappears." What started out as a hobby has become a love of his life, and something George wants to share with others.
"This is what I always wanted to do full time," says George, who has been working as an advertising designer in the publishing industry for more than 23 years. "I'm putting down the mouse to pick up the paintbrush."
